The Bujrum Center for Rural Development embarks on a unique journey to coordinate a large scale cross-border project on eco-tourism. The project entitled “Savouring Unique Nature – Bicycle-tourism in support of nature” aims to improve the quality of life in the cross border region of Bulgaria and Macedonia by creating opportunities for sports, recreation and tourism and sustainable management of environmental protection.
The project is based on the strengths of the Cross-Border Region rich in many unique natural routes for bicycles and development of alternative tourism. The project will explore opportunities for cycling tourism and to build a common strategy for cooperation on environmental protection in the Cross-Border Region. It will also build cross border networks and to develop joint cross-border tourist products for the purpose of specific economic benefits for local people through increase of the visitors’ flow.
The project is implemented within the Instrument for Pre-accession of the European Union the cross-border cooperation programme between Macedonia and Bulgaria. Bujrum is the leading partner organisation from Macedonia and will work with 3 organizations from Bulgaria: European Integration Agency – Kyustendil Branch, Association Business Information and Consulting Centre – Sandanski and We the Women Association – Blagoevgrad. The agreement was officially signed on 20th July and the project is starting.
