In October this year a Youth Camp gathered 56 primary school students in Ohrid. The youngsters were from the primary schools Naim Frasheri, Vuk Karadzik and Toli Zordumis. The activities of the camp aimed at enhancing the dialogue between young people from different backgrounds and to promote active youth participation in their local communities.

The programme of the youth camp used interactive and innovative methods in which young people could express their creativity and get to know each other better through peer-learning. The programme consisted from a variety of activities such as team-building, intercultural learning, community mapping, movie night and creative workshops on painting, photography, street performance. Furthermore, youngsters got a chance to actively engage in creating their projects for the MultiКулти youth center which they will run after they are back from the Youth Camp. As a result of this workshop 4 projects were developed on Volunteering and sports, language conversation, organizing events, and movie nights. Each of the groups has already started with organizing their project:

  • Language conversation – with the help of the EVS international volunteers, young people gather every Tuesday form 19:00 and learn different languages in a creative way through games and conversation.
  • Events´ organizers – gather and organize different events that are of interest to young people. After the youth camp, this group has organized a Halloween party in MultiКулти. They are currently preparing an event for the 5th of December to celebrate the International Volunteer Day.
  • Movie night – the group gathers every Thursday to watch a movie/documentary that they chose together with their friends.

The Youth Camp once again proved that young people in Kumanovo are ready to work together and take active part in their community.
