Apart from students, also teachers participate. These activities are facilitated by CID youth workers, that also pities of schools to promote inter-ethnic dialogue.

The activities of Multiculturalism are joint activities with students from different ethnical background. They represent a direct collaboration among ethnically segregated schools in Kumanovo. The aim is to bring closer and develop understanding for the cultural differences and to encourage collaboration between students of different ethnic background. Apart from students, also teachers participate. These activities are facilitated by CID youth workers, that also provide model and training for the teachers, how to continue its implementation in future. They have specific methodological approach, by using the languages of both communities in delivering the activities.

“Our task as youth workers is to lead and implement the workshops. They are all done using non-formal education. More importantly in facilitation we use the languages of the both communities (Macedonian and Albanian), and we as facilitators from different ethnic background working together are also role model for collaboration. This multicultural workshops cycle is implemented from March till June, and is last for the school year, meaning that they were also implemented in the first semester (September – December). In our opinion these workshops are agreat way to build the roots for creating an intercultural community that will have tolerance, cooperation and understanding between different ethnicities, “ says Matej and Jehona, CID youth workers that facilitate the workshops.

The multicultural extracurricular activities are part of the project Multi-Култи , supported by Unicef in the frames of the UN Joint Programme ”Enhancing Inter-Ethnic Community Dialogue and Collaboration”, funded by the Spanish Government through the MDG Achievement Fund.
