YEES is a non-profit organization supporting initiatives in education, training and youth in Slovakia. As a leading independent organization, YEES focuses on mobility, cooperation and policy reform among youth in the CEECs countries. As a youth organization, YEES develops initiatives aimed at bolstering youth exchanges, practice through cross-cultural and cross-institutional learning in education and training, and volunteering opportunities. In this way, the YEES partners with various decision makers, including international organizations, civil society, the private sector and state institutions for the benefit of vocational students, trainees, teachers, trainers and youth workers.
YEES mission statement:

• To provide challenging intercultural learning experience for youth,
• To promote their social and personal development through exchanges, practice and learning in education and training, and volunteering opportunities,
• To improve the employability of youth and open up new opportunities for them.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
This training course focuses on poverty, marginalization and inclusion of youth with fewer opportunities and will bring together 25 youth leaders and youth workers from Romania, Estonia, Italy, Spain, Macedonia, Turkey and Slovakia.

The training course focuses on the social issues such as poverty, marginalization and young people with lack of opportunities. In other words the project “So close, yet so far”, is designed to inform and generate awareness on the poverty matter in Europe resulting from people coming from less opportunity backgrounds.

The participating youth workers will gain skills and knowledge in order to help youth with fewer opportunities to combat poverty. The main aim of the project is to teach the youth workers and leaders the methods to deal and eradicate poverty. Youth workers will attain new knowledge and skills in relation with working mainly with young people with disadvantaged backgrounds.

The training course will be entirely based on the concept and methods of non-formal education and will allow participants, with the help and support of the trainers, to develop their own educational games workshops and activities, which can be later on used in their own work and among members of their local communities. As a result of the training course, we expect to equip the participants with new skills and know-how, which will be extremely useful in their every day work of sharing culture of peace, mutual understanding and respect: this time, not in as a game or activity, but also in real life.
