We live in a moment in which both, the European integration process has created a debate on European Identity and xenophobia has increased around Europe due to the crisis. Therefore it is important to cultivate European cultural diversity as integrative. Art is one of the highest expressions of the culture of a country and it is also a universal tool of understanding among global citizens.

What is Painting and Dancing European Identity?

In this sense, “Painting and Dancing, European Identity” incorporates painting and dance as work tools which will allow the participants to explore and accept the differences and similarities embedded within European cultures.

Young people from 6 different countries including Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Sweden, Macedonia and Spain, will gather in Spain in order to foster understanding and acceptance through young people with dancing and painting. 
Each of the groups will be made from 6 participants, plus a group leader. 

In order to be eligible, participants must be interested in arts, specially painting and dance. They will also have to be interested in the main topic of the exchange, European identity.
Having previous experience in these fields is not a requirement.

 

Main activities of the exchange: 

During the exchange, participants will engage in activities which will combine painting and dance as nonverbal expressions of the concept of European (plural) identity. 

They will also participate in dynamic games and discussions aimed at discovering the cultures of the rest of participants.

Finally, they will show what they have learned in a final performance that will include dancing and painting performances in which participants will express their similarities and differences to explain the European identity to the citizens of Sabadell. 

 

Profile of participants: 

  • be 18 to 30 years old
  • have interest in dancing arts and painting
  • experience in the previously mentoned types of arts will be considered as a plus
  • willing to learn and motivated to share experience with their sending organization after the event
  • be able to attend the full duration of the project

 

Financial details of the project: 

  • Food and accomm dation will be covered 100% by the organizers. 
    Participants will be accommodated in Sabadell, just 25 minutes from the center of Barcelona, next to sports courts and swimming pools.

  • Travel costs will be covered up to 170 EUR. 
    The participant must buy their own ticket and they will be reimbursed via bank transfer after the receipt of the original travel tickets and boarding passes.
