There are million ways of celebrating happiness. We celebrated it with a bubble parade. Think of it – what other activity can bring together children and grown-ups, boys and girls, locals and foreigners, with the sole purpose of having fun? Bubbles, of course! And music.
The Global Bubble Parade is an international event that brings people together by offering them the chance to play with bubbles and to share the joy. This year it was organised in more than 85 cities on 4 continents. Kumanovo is part of the Bubble Parade for the second time, the first event being held in 2013. This year we also wanted to celebrate the re-opening of our youth center MultiKulti, which was renovated and is prepared to receive young people in Kumanovo on a daily basis, with new activities and surprises.
So what actually happened on the 29th of May in Kumanovo? We closed the street near the MultiKulti youth center and mounted a stage. Louisa Vinton, the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Skopje, came to greet the young people of Kumanovo and to wish the youth center a great fresh start. The youth center’s activities are currently supported by UNDP Macedonia through the project MultiКулти Social Youth Services. The mayor of Kumanovo, Zoran Damjanovski, joined her words and expressed his good wishes, noting the diversity of the people who were present at the event.
The cultural part of the event included musical performances from the newly-formed MultiKulti band – Edita Aliu, Fisnik Jakupi and David Aleksovski. The dancing clubs ”Ultra” and ”Fusion” from Kumanovo energised us with thrilling dances. The participants from the MultiKulti workshops also prepared surprises for us: the recycling art workshop presented two dresses made of recycled bags, paper, aluminium foil and tape, which were one of the main attractions of the day! Keti from the theatre workshop played a positive energiser with the group, and the participants of the photography workshop took photos of the event, which will be available of our Facebook page.
If you were there, we hope you had fun with us! If you missed it, check out the photo gallery!
And we hope to see you stopping by our youth center, for a chat, or maybe to make a wish come true.
