The project’s main aim is to strengthen the recognition of youth workers’ competences and assessment of the quality of youth work providers, by capacity building of youth workers and evaluators based on the principle of self-assessment and peer-assessment.
Training course “Assessment of youth workers” is the first training activity of “Youth Work Recognition with self-assessment and accreditation”. It will be held in Newcastle upon Tyne from 18th – 23rd April 2016 for 17 participants from UK, Macedonia and Lithuania. It aims to build capacity of youth workers and decision makers in the youth field about the need for quality assessment and provide ideas of assessments.
The training course “Assessment of Youth Workers” aims to address to key issues regarding youth work. The first is the recognition of youth work and secondly the capacity building of youth workers through self-assessment. We will work together to achieve these aims by sharing information about the current situation of youth workers in our respective countries, UK, Macedonia and Lithuania. We will take a look at:
- How youth work has developed over time
- Employment opportunities within the youth work sector
- Development and training of youth workers
- Qualifications and formal recognition of youth workers
This Training Course will provide participants with the opportunity to look at youth work recognition within Europe. As a group we will discuss many of the questions and challenges that are facing the youth work sector as a whole: What is youth work? What is quality and how could it be assessed?
Throughout this project we will use non-formal methods of training as the basis of learning. There will be simulation activities, role plays, theoretical inputs, learning to learn practice, lifelong and life wide learning, small group work, individual work, self-directed learning, use of games and other exercises.
Participant’s profile:
- Be above 18 years old
- Fluent in English
- Must be a youth worker, project coordinator and/or volunteer involved in youth workfield
- Be interested in the topic of the project and willing to actively participate in all the activities
- Be able to attend the whole duration of the project
- Be willing to share their knowledge with members of CID
Financial aspects of the project:
- Food and accommodation will be covered 100% by the organizers.
- Travel costs will be covered up to 275 EUR.
The participants are obliged to buy their own ticket, and they will be reimbursed upon giving all original boarding passes and tickets to CID after their return. - Visa costs will be covered up to 100 EUR.
The applicant MUST be able to apply and pay for the visa latest by 15 February in order to acquire the visa on time. - No participation fee!
