ABOUT THE PROJECT
SCI stands for Service Civil International and it’s a worldwide volunteer organization which promotes culture of peace through various exchanges, voluntary and educational projects.
The aim of the training is to prepare the participants for coordinating international workcamps and to provide them with essential knowledge about volunteering, SCI and group leadership.
The trainers of this gathering have a broad experience in the work of SCI, as well as the SAVA working group, which is coordinating mutual activities of SCI organizations in the Balkan region.
The training will offer a special focus on sustainability and on the SCI worldwide campaign “Create a Climate for Peace”. For more information about the campaign: http://www.sci.ngo/climate-justice-campaign
The activities will take place in Kuterevo, village located in the Velebit mountain range, in the facilities of the Kuterevo Bear Refuge. The participants will be hosted in a basic and eco-friendly accommodation, next to the volunteers’ station and the enclosures for the young bears. They will sleep all together in a wooden house, where part of the activities will as well be organized.
The focus will be on the following topics:
- concept and philosophy of volunteering, volunteers’ motivation and expectations
- group dynamics
- concept of intercultural learning
- the role of the “leader” and the different leadership/coordination styles
- conflict management
- peace message of the workcamp
- sustainability in the workcamp
PROFILE OF PARTICIPANTS:
- above 18 years old
- be free to participate all duration of the training
- has good knowledge of English
- willing to share their experience with CID
ACCOMMODATION and FINANCES:
Food, accommodation, materials and resources will be provided.
Since the organization of this training is not supported by any grant, participants are expected to cover their travel costs.
