From the 13th to the 22nd of December Vesel, Boris, Veton, Filip, Martina and Azra attended a youth exchange “Adventure of a Lifetime” held in Larissa, Greece. The main aim of the youth exchange was to teach the participants  how they can actively involve in civil society through the participation at NGOs and entities fighting pro refugee rights and to figure out practices so that they can raise the empathy within their local communities as individuals, as well as, teams. Another important aim was to learn how to handle reactions of fear, racist and xenophobic opinions within their society and define common values of democracy and respect of human rights.

Here is what Vesel had to say about the project:

The project “Adventure of Lifetime” was about the Refugee Crisis. We were 30 participants from 5 different countries (Italy, Turkey, Germany, Greece, and Macedonia) which mainly faced the crisis. During the exchange we had the chance to hear stories and work directly with local experts and employees in refugee camps. Also we met with the mayor of Larissa who explained the situation in a way that was more clear to us. We did different interviews with local people to see if they accept or are against the refugees. During the exchange we learned a lot about different methods of non formal education. In the end we created a leaflet and a video about our exchange and the refugee crisis.
We learned more about cultures, food, dances, songs, traditions of other countries who took part in this youth exchange. And most important part is that now we have great friends from other countries and we can`t wait to see each other again.
