ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project is a long-term partnership between organizations from the UK – Peshkar Productions Limited, Belgium – Out of the Box International and Macedonia – Center for Intercultural Dialogue, and it aims on tackling radicalization in the modern technology era.
Young people as a crucial community, today use the digital landscape to revolutionize, inspire and express themselves. But with the digital era, young people are facing a new storm of unique challenges connected to misinformation, misguidance and risk of radicalization.
But social media offers profound opportunities to generate innovative media content that can be used across all media formats and environments to promote positive role models and counteract the mis-information campaigns of violent extremism and terrorism.
This is where the youth professionals and youth workers are the ones to adjust their approaches, and use the appropriate tools, resources and training if they are to respond and repel this advancing menace.
This project specifically addresses this, and its main aim is to increase capacity of youth organisations to combat extremism and violent radicalization in the online sphere, by developing methodological approaches and tools that will support their work in inspiring young people to create positive and alternative content online.
As part of the project itself, the following things have been developed:
- Study: “Radicalisation in Online sphere- forms and prevention practices”
- Handbook: Developing Alternative Narratives Through Youth Work
- Digital Stories: Videos of Personal stories and statistics as a counter narrative
