Period of implementation: January 1st 2021 – December 31st 2024

The main goal of the project is to engage and promote participation of young people in policy and decision making through advocacy and civic activism on social cohesion, human rights, multiculturalism and democracy at local and national level. Further, this project will work on establishing Youth Centers in eight multi-ethnic municipalities in the country through close partnership with the local governments (mayors and councils) and youth political wings. This will be also done in co-operation with local CSOs, which will be trained by CID to develop and deliver educational programs and best practices.

More specifically, this project aims to:

  • establish (as a required by the Law on Youth Participation and Youth Policy) 8 Municipal Youth Centers in selected multiethnic municipalities that are functional, operational and implement program activities that are based on the model of MultiКулти Youth Center by working together with local authorities and keeping them accountable;
  • establish (as a required by the Law on Youth Participation and Youth Policy) Local Youth Councils in 8 municipalities and ensuring that they operate in an inclusive and participatory way and are recognized and supported by all parties (Youth, political wings, municipal council, CSOs etc.);
  • initiate collaborative work among youth wings by developing their intercultural competences and providing them with best practices from Netherlands on influencing policy making based on democratic participation and human rights;

There is a long list of activities encompassed within the three years of implementations. The activities are the following:

Year 1

  • Networking event for Establishing Youth Centers;
  • Training activities building intercultural competences;
  • Developing Tailored programmes for promoting values of multiculturalism, active citizenship and civic engagement;
  • Implementing Educational Modules;
  • Evaluation meeting on Educational Modules;
  • Developing a manual with best practices on youth center programmes;
  • Training on democracy, participation and civic engagement;
  • Follow up activities (multiplier events);
  • Seminar on Local Youth Councils;

 

Year 2

  • Training for facilitators/youth workers on building competences to develop youth centre programmes;
  • Developing Tailored programmes for promoting values of multiculturalism, active citizenship and civic engagement – Vol.2;
  • Implementing Educational Modules 2;
  • Training on democracy participation and civic engagement;
  • Follow up activities Vol.2;

Year 3

  • Training activities for development organisational management for youth centre programmes;
  • Developing Tailored programmes for promoting values of multiculturalism, active citizenship and civic engagement – Vol.3;
  • Implementing Educational Modules 3;
  • Seminar on Youth center development with facilitators and evaluation event;
  • National Seminar on Local Youth Participation;
