Center for Intercultural Dialogue (CID) is looking for an expert for developing capacity building plan and curricula for teachers on youth activism and volunteerism for community-level outreach for the project Youth Agents of Change.
A full honorarium for the engagement is 500 EUR.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The project Youth Agents of Change, funded by the European Union, aims to contribute to increased inclusiveness and society impact of youth for improving the local governance through civic youth initiatives, activism and volunteering in municipalities. The project is implemented in partnership between Center for intercultural dialogue from Kumanovo, Scout Association of Macedonia from Skopje and Center for research and analysis NOVUS from Strumica. Target group of the project is youth, high schools students, university students, youth activists, young women, youth with disabilities, youth initiatives, Local Youth Councils and local community members of the municipalities of Centar, Kumanovo and Strumica.
ABOUT THE CAPACITY BUILDING PLAN AND CURRICULA
Sustainable development of generation of young activist and volunteers that make societal impact is possible only if it is part of the educational system, i.e it is necessary to develop competences and skills of high school teachers to empower and foster youth activism for community-level outreach. This is why schools need to proactively nurture youth activism and civic engagement in the classroom. The external expert will develop the capacity building plan and curricula for teachers on youth activism and volunteerism for community-level outreach. Curricula will help teachers introduce this topic in their regular classes for civic education. The curricula should not only include the theoretic part, but accent should be put on the practical activities through which teachers would stimulate student’s activism. Curricula should contain ideas for class projects focused on civic action that can have a far-reaching impact.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Conduct research on the current condition of youth activism and volunteerism in the community
- Define the objectives and create the content for the capacity building plan and curricula
- Develop lesson plans practical activities through which teachers would stimulate student’s activism
- Maintain regular communication and coordination with the project team.
Qualifications:
- Proven in-depth knowledge in the field of youth activism, volunteerism, education;
- Experience as a trainer or educator on the topic of youth activism, youth engagement, volunteerism is preferred;
- Experience in drafting similar capacity building plans is an asset;
- Professional fluency in English with good editing and writing skills;
- Flexibility to work in the framework of a set deadline;
- Computer literacy.
