ABOUT THE TRAINING
The goal of the ToT is to provide news literacy, critical thinking and media activism learning skills for the youth workers/trainers from partner NGOs. After the ToT, they will be empowered to educate young people in news literacy and critical thinking by using blended learning. They will also perfect their writing skills and start writing for the TYM.
During the ToT, the participants will develop a range of knowledge and skills in the field of news literacy, critical thinking and media activism. They will learn: about news literacy and its importance to an individual and society; how media and journalism influenced society in the post-truth era; how to recognize manipulative media techniques; how to identify fake news, photos, video content, and social media accounts; what is information disorder, and what is information pollution?; what are algorithms, news feeds, filtered bubbles, and echo chambers?; what is the difference between bots, trolls, and cyborgs?; how to find the sources of reliable source information and how effectively to search the Web… and many more things that will significantly improve the quality of their understanding of the news and the use of social networks.
PARTICIPANTS PROFILE
Participants would ideally meet the following criteria:
– an adult 18+ years old (no upper age restriction);
– possess certain media literacy/activism knowledge or strong desire to acquire it;
– to be creative, interested and capable to write media articles;
– to be interested in youth policy, especially the problems of (Balkans’) youth;
– to be motivated to combat undemocratic incidents;
– to be familiar with ICTs (to be able to use a computer and access socialmedia);
– to be familiar with the current youth policy situation at local/national/international level, problems and needs of youth;
– to be willing to cooperate with their Balkans colleagues;
– to be willing to participate in Project dissemination;
– to be fluent in English.
ACCOMMODATION and FINANCES:
All costs related to accommodation and food will be covered by the hosting organization.
Travel costs will be reimbursed up to 130 EUR.
