Summary

COVID-19 Pandemic has had a major impact on marginalized and persons and groups in vulnerable situations across Europe.

Several human rights monitoring bodies notes that the pandemic has given rise to a new wave of hate speech contributing to further polarisation of public discourse and that scapegoating, stereotyping, stigmatisation and the use of derogatory and sometimes violent expressions have been observed particularly against already marginalised populations.

Project called “Promoting equality and non-discrimination in youth work” is developed to improve the role of youth work in promoting equality and non-discrimination.

The project will assess, synthetize and present the experiences from the youth field relevant to non-discrimination, equality and inclusion.

Based on these outcomes, youth work providers will be strengthened to provide improved quality of youth work activities directed protecting the rights of vulnerable groups such as ethnic and religious minorities, LGBTI persons and young refugees. At the same time, young leaders experiencing discrimination and exclusion will be empowered to take part in the lives of their associations, local participation structures and other European level fora.

Project gathers partners from Belgium, France, North Macedonia, Portugal and Germany who seek to increase quality in the work, activities and practices and develop their own capacities to work with young leaders from vulnerable groups will develop data driven compendium of good practices for inclusion in youth work, mentorship and self-advocacy programmes which will be implemented at the local level and based on the results, develop policy recommendations at local and international level to be further used by various stakeholders from different sectors of society.
