The Center for Intercultural Dialogue recently hosted an inspiring Youth Exchange (YE) in the picturesque town of Ohrid, bringing together 20 enthusiastic participants from France and North Macedonia. The core aim of this Youth Exchange was to foster interculturality, creating a space where young people from diverse backgrounds could engage, learn, and grow together.

The journey towards this YE began with a series of workshops focused on crucial social themes such as discrimination, youth participation, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), climate justice, and European codes. These workshops were conducted separately in France and North Macedonia, laying the groundwork for a rich and comprehensive understanding of these topics among the participants.

The participants were initially divided, attending workshops in their respective countries. This approach ensured that they could delve deeply into the subjects and explore them from their unique cultural perspectives. These sessions not only educated the youth on important global issues but also prepared them for the intercultural exchange that was to come.

After these preliminary workshops, the young participants from both countries came together for the Youth Exchange in Ohrid. This gathering was a culmination of their individual learning experiences and marked the beginning of their collective journey towards intercultural understanding.

The program in Ohrid was meticulously designed to promote dialogue and collaboration. Through a variety of activities, including presentations, role plays, and interactive sessions, the participants had the opportunity to share their insights and experiences. They engaged in discussions on the different aspects of discrimination, explored ways to enhance youth participation, and brainstormed actionable steps towards achieving the SDGs.

The exchange was not just about learning; it was also about building lasting relationships. The participants formed strong bonds through cultural activities, team-building exercises, and informal gatherings. The serene and historic setting of Ohrid provided the perfect backdrop for these interactions, enhancing the overall experience.

This Youth Exchange in Ohrid was a significant step towards promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding among young people from France and North Macedonia. By bringing together diverse perspectives and fostering a spirit of cooperation, the Center for Intercultural Dialogue has paved the way for a more inclusive and connected future.

As these young participants return to their respective countries, they carry with them not only new knowledge and skills but also a renewed commitment to fostering interculturality in their communities. This project stands as a testament to the power of youth exchanges in bridging cultural divides and building a more harmonious world.
