In September, the Center for Intercultural Dialogue (CID) had the pleasure of hosting a participant from Jordan as part of the Story Tours Alternative Routes (STAR) project. This job shadowing experience was designed to foster transnational cooperation and knowledge exchange among organizations from six countries—Italy, Spain, Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Jordan. Through this collaboration, the project aims to develop a digital, inclusive, and sustainable approach to youth programs, empowering NGOs to enhance their youth engagement strategies and promote values of inclusion.
The STAR project addresses the growing need for digital and transnational collaboration in youth work by equipping organizations with tools to implement educational walking tours as part of their methodology. This initiative also aims to promote these educational tours online, develop toolkits for digital storytelling, and strengthen the role of youth in their communities. A central output will be a policy paper designed to guide and support youth organizations.
During the job shadowing period, the Jordanian participant had a unique opportunity to dive into CID’s organizational structure, observing processes that are vital for the smooth functioning of the organization. They explored diverse areas, from administrative work to project development, communication strategies, and the creation of impactful youth programs. Through hands-on learning, the participant gained insights into CID’s operations and witnessed how inclusive and digital methodologies are implemented.
This experience was more than a learning journey—it was a step towards strengthening partnerships across borders and enhancing the capacity of youth organizations involved in the STAR project. By sharing knowledge and strategies, these organizations will build a stronger foundation for youth programs that inspire positive change, encourage community involvement, and support youth in leading the way toward a more inclusive and digitally connected world.
