About STAR
The project aims to enhance collaboration among partner organisations from Italy, Spain, Albania, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Jordan. It will strengthen NGOs’ capacity to deliver impactful youth programs through a digital, inclusive, and sustainable approach, promoting youth engagement and inclusion via educational tours.
Goals include enhancing youth organisations’ transnational collaboration and digital skills, promoting educational tours as a youth development tool, producing 12 educational walking tours (6 digitised and uploaded online), and creating toolkits on educational walking tours and digital storytelling.
Pilot Tour Action Youth Exchange
In today’s world, where social media and motion pictures dominate storytelling, there is a growing demand for digital storytelling skills. These skills are essential for both youth workers and young people who aim to raise awareness, advocate for causes, and influence public opinion on important issues.
This Youth Exchange brings together 15 young participants from Albania, Italy, and Macedonia to enhance their digital skills through the art of digital storytelling, while promoting inclusion, diversity, and intercultural dialogue. The primary objective is to equip these young people with the tools and knowledge to co-create educational walking tours using digital technology, focusing on the use of 360° cameras to produce immersive content.
Throughout the exchange, participants will engage in a variety of hands-on activities and workshops, gaining practical experience in essential storytelling techniques, video editing, camera operation, and digital tools. They will also explore how to understand cultural contexts, identify engaging stories, design educational tours, and use technology to bring these narratives to life. The exchange will also feature thematic sessions on inclusion, diversity, and overcoming stereotypes, empowering participants to address social challenges through digital storytelling.
By the end of the exchange, participants will have acquired not only essential digital skills but also a deeper understanding of how to engage diverse audiences. The 360° cameras will enable them to create educational, immersive tours that communicate important messages about inclusion and diversity, providing an innovative way to tell stories that resonate with others. These digital guides will be further developed and implemented in the coming months, creating the virtual walking tours.
Expected Outcomes:
- Increased knowledge of inclusion and diversity in the host country.
- Enhanced understanding of the relationship between storytelling and communication.
- Improved digital skills, including proficiency with video editing, multimedia tools, and 360° technology.
- Strengthened ability to address differences, stereotypes, and prejudices through storytelling.
- Increased self-confidence and self-esteem among participants.
- Practical experience in creating educational walking tours, incorporating themes of inclusion, diversity, and intercultural dialogue.
- Heightened awareness of the cultural context of the host country and non-formal education practices.
This exchange will provide both youth workers and participants with the opportunity to explore the potential of digital storytelling as a tool for education, inclusion, and positive social change. By integrating 360° cameras into the creation of immersive educational walking tours, we aim to empower young people with the skills to produce powerful narratives that engage and inspire future generations.
